Sacks of Snacks was created because of a need. Children in our community were going hungry. We were contacted by a local school asking us to help some students who would not have any food when school was on break. We took action and provided groceries for these children. But it became apparent that this was just a Band-Aid to a bigger problem. We met with some of our local school principals and community nonprofits. Out of this meeting Sacks-of-Snacks came into existence.
We now serve Dearborn County Schools for a total of 360 children. We provide a weekly bag of food for these children to have food to eat on the weekends.
A typical bag of food includes, breakfast bars, individual fruit cups, individual cereals and other individual, quick items.
